Co-Registration Lead (Co-Reg)
A lead captured when a consumer opts into insurance-related offers while completing an unrelated sign-up flow (e.g., a coupon site or survey).
Full Definition
A co-registration lead ("co-reg" or "path lead") is generated when a consumer completes a sign-up flow for one product — a coupon offer, survey reward, sweepstakes, newsletter — and along the way is presented with an offer to also receive information about insurance. If the consumer checks the box, their contact info is passed to the insurance buyer as a lead. Co-reg leads are inexpensive ($0.50–$5) but historically have lower intent than inquiry-based leads, because the consumer's primary motivation was the coupon or survey, not insurance. Co-reg has faced scrutiny under TCPA one-to-one consent norms because the consent language is often generic. Most tier-1 insurance lead buyers avoid pure co-reg in favor of intent-based forms.
Example
A consumer signing up for a grocery coupon on a rewards website is shown the question "Would you like a free Medicare Advantage quote?" They check yes. Their contact data is passed to a Medicare lead buyer at $1.75.
